Cheryl, I was very saddened to hear of Werner's passing because like everyone has said he was a very special person. Unfortunately, we are out of town visiting our daughter and family in Atlanta. I will always remember the letter he sent to me when I received the Official of Year award for basketball officials. I still have it and cherish it today. God sends many special people our way and he was one of them.

Dear Aunt Cheryl, Amy, Kristen, Brian and family,
I wanted to send my love to all of you and to let you know that I am thinking about you and am so sorry for your loss.
Uncle Werner was a very special man and he has a special place in my childhood memories. I always think of him as the perfect combination of our grandparents--with Pop's story-telling and humor and Grandma's kindness and sweet heart. They were so proud of him and I am proud to have him as my uncle.
My husband Art and I read the articles about Uncle Werner online and we were so amazed at how many lives he touched with his wisdom, humor and good values. So many people love and respect him and that must be a sign of a life that was very well-lived.
I am grateful for the great memories with him and will always remember him as a wonderful uncle and man.
I am sending my love and prayers to you.
With love always,
Your niece and cousin, Beth

A true pillar of strength for the RH community. One of the kindest and sincere gentleman I have ever had the pleasure of calling a friend. I never had the opportunity to play for him, but just the respect from everyone that did speaks volumes of the kind of man he was. Rest in peace and you will be truly missed.

Werner was just about the best when it came to being with and engaging people to help with getting things done for the good of Section V Football.
What a great motivator and leader. As an official I never felt more comfortable than working for him on the field. He never seemed to go bananas over my so so calls.
It was a pleasure to work along side him for forty years on the Section V Football Committee.
We will all miss being with him.

In a day in age where participation trophies and orange slices for everyone are the norm, I feel sorry for the young athletes of today who do not have the standards set for them that Coach Kleemann utilized during his tenure. I miss the generation of young kids pursuing excellence in sport by following the tutelage of great men like Mr. Kleemann. His passing is like the passing of an era. I take comfort in the fact that his grandchildren have his standards within them and they will bring those ideals to the forefront again someday. The RH family lost a great man and my thanks & sympathies go out to his family for sharing him with us and losing him with us. Goodbye Coach

Werner epitomized all that is good about high school sports and sportsmanship in a bygone era. His coaching and interpersonal relationships exemplified why sports at that level were such an important part of the education of young men . He was part of my family history and I know my father loved and respected him as did I. Like countless others Werner touched, he made me a better man. God bless you Werner. Love.

The Kleemann Family, I along with my family are so sad to hear of the passing of Beloved Coach Kleemann. Coach is a Legend and was always so nice to everyone he met. He was a Role Model for all of us to follow with his Love of Family, Friends, and Community. Coach Kleemann’s first football game as the RH Head Coach was Refereed by my Dad. My Dad always said that Paul McKee and Werner Kleemann were the Best and Classiest Coaches whose Teams demonstrated that on the football field! I fondly remember taking Coach and Brian to Notre Dame to watch the Fighting Irish. When Coach saw the 1988 National Championship Team Photo with Corny Southall in it, I could see the Pride and Joy in his face. He Loved every minute of the weekend with the Tradition, Patriotism, and Fanfare.
Coach will always be in our Heart! May God Rest his Soul.
Sincerely, Tom McShea and the McShea Family.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this sad time. I will never forget the genuine support that Coach Kleemann showed the RH hockey team. As athletic director, he really treated all programs equally. He frequently dropped in to our practices and came to games which meant so much to the team when we were pushing our program to be competitive. He was one of those rare people that could really motivate you to play hard or to be a better person. My sincere condolences, Dave Barragato

Coach Kleeman set the tone for RH Athletics. E=R! Work hard, play hard, and do so with the highest level of sportsmanship. We were blessed to have a world class group of PE teachers and coaches; Page, Cox, Monje, Young, Fazio(x2), Edkins, and Smith, but Coach Kleeman was the rock.
As a student at RH, I had the opportunity to see him as a coach and athletic director over many years. He was excellent in both roles and was truly a role model and mentor to everyone. Although I didn’t play for him directly he was someone you could always turn to and I talked to him from time to time.
As a captain of a few teams when he was AD, he often chatted with me (and others) about what we wanted in terms of facilities and uniforms. He genuinely listened, told us what his plans were, and in a short period of time you could see his impact behind the scenes. A few years later, my brother Erik played Hockey with his son Brian and you could see his efforts to grow the Athletic program in their success.
But what impressed me most, was when I was helping line the baseball fields before games, I would see him talking to the grounds crew. He treated them like family...not just some guys cutting grass. You see, to Werner, we were all part of the RH family. God speed Coach Kleeman!

Cheryl, Amy, Kristen and Brian, you all know what a great man Werner is and know that the legacy he leaves will live on forever. He was part of the Greateat Generation of Educators, those who cared about kids and not so much numbers (unless it was wins/losses!) He cared and showed others how to care. We have missed him as a neighbor and will miss him as a role model and friend. May you all find comfort and peace knowing he is in Heaven watching over you all and God willing, the rest of us. God Bless you all and God Bless Werner.
Love, Dorie

My deepest condolences to the family! I loved coach Kleemann. My senior year of hs he took over as principal, and I fell in love!! He coached my brothers in football and attended their weddings. Over the last year I cane to the house many times to do blood draws. He always had a smile on and asked about the family. I will miss him and his smiles and his amazing heart. They don’t make them quite like him anymore. Love to the family, Katie
