Obituary of Richard S. Buxton
Passed away on April 29, 2018 at the age of 86. Predeceased by his first wife, Gladys; sister, Marjorie Buxton Miller; and grandson, Christopher Ferrimani. Survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; children, Steven (Dawn) Buxton, Anne (John) Ferrimani, and Paul (Robyn) Buxton; granddaughter, Lauren Ferrimani, great grandson Anthony Ferrimani, stepchildren, Keith Winton, Jean Winton; grandchildren, Jonathan Bartyzel, Ryan, Sammi, Tara and Dustin Ulmer.
Richard served in the U.S. Army for 3 years, earned the rank of Sargent and received a number of service medals. Richard earned a B.S. degree in Engineering from The Rochester Institute of Technology and worked at The Gleason Works for over 30 years as a Senior Design Engineer. He was a long-time member of the Henrietta United Church of Christ where he served on a variety of Boards and Committees, taught Sunday School and served as Church School Superintendent. For many years he was a certified Visitor at Strong Memorial Hospital for Mended Hearts of Rochester, an organization he belonged to for 30 years. His affiliation with Boy Scout Troop 153 lasted for over 20 years, many of them as Scout Master.
Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, May 4, from 4-7 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, 3325 Winton Road South in Henrietta. A Memorial Service will take place at 1 PM Saturday, May 5, at the Henrietta United Church of Christ, 1400 Lehigh Station Rd. Interment Maplewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Henrietta United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 1400 Lehigh Station Rd., P.O. Box 430, Henrietta, New York 14467.
