I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Brown played a huge purpose in my life. She was my guidance counselor and I really enjoyed attending her bible study groups during lunch. She helped me with finding love for myself and God and for that, I will always be eternally grateful. My deepest condolences are with the family during your time of grief. May God bring you peace in knowing that she is there with Him. Thank you Mrs. Brown for being a key person in my life while I was at Franklin high school. She may be gone from earth, but she will never be forgotten by anyone who’s heart she’s reached. Amen.

Dear Divo,
You were not just my aunt but you were my other mother. You tagged team with my mom to help raise me and there was never a ‘no’ that came out of your mouth when it came to your “Kelly”. You were my hair stylist, sitting in a hot kitchen in the summer, pressing out my hair with the hot comb. You were my teacher. When school was out you home schooled us and made sure all of our work was done before we even thought about playing outside. You were my physical trainer, you had us walk from home to the church in the summer to meet you, which was some darn good exercise if I might add. You pushed the limits and held a Bible Study every day during lunch at school and would give me the side eye when I didn’t show up. You were my laughing partner; oh how you would laugh till there were tears in your eyes. You were a story teller, take a road trip with you and you are guaranteed an 8 hour conversation. You were my role model. I went to Hampton, just like you. I want to be a missionary just like you. You were my emergency saving account when funds got too low. You were my alarm clock calling at 6am daily for prayer calls. You are the reason that I serve the Lord the way I do today. You were my counselor, no matter the subject, I knew i could call you as early or late as I wanted for advice. You were my moms baby sister. You were the glue that held our family together. I know that you’re so happy to be home with our Father and I’m happy that you’re there as well and out of pain. Selfishly though, I just want to hear your laugh, and see your smile, and hear you say “Baby Girl” just one more time. Although these tears are flowing, please know that this weekend I will try my best to celebrate your life vs mourning your death. I love and miss you so much Divo.

What a friend we have in Jesus. Janice was one of the most God fearing people I've ever known. She personified what a real Christian is; a counselor, a teacher, a friend, a mentor and the list could go on and on.
The smile as she asked about Karissa and about our little deacon [Jared] whenever she saw me at the store or the credit union. She extended herself to anyone she came in contact with and touched their hearts like she did ours.
We will keep all the children in prayer and to be strong knowing that she lived the life that we all seek to live.
Rest in peace, friend and colleague.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you the family. Mama Brown was my high school counselor at Benjermin Franklin. I was pregnant in my senior year. She made sure I graduated on time. She would look at you with those big brown eye and you know she meant business. She was like a second mom to a lot of us. She will truly be missed.

Throughout the course of your life, there will be people that God places there for an appointed time... this godly woman was in the correct place and time of appointment for the thousands upon thousands of lives she touched... she was never afraid to pray with you in the halls of public schools where Almighty God is NO LONGER welcome, of course unless tragedy strikes and then they want HIM to be accountable for an area He is no longer welcome... but Ms. Brown was fearless... she knew where she stood and KNEW God called her to be in the place where she could help young lives struggling, find their way... Thank you God for lending us this woman... fearless, loving and that virtuous woman Proverbs 31 speaks on... Rest in peace beautiful soul...

A woman of ethics, of integrity, of the Word! What an honor to have met Mama Brown since my teenage years while she served as a Counselor in high school. It was an even greater honor working alongside her in ministry; going on a mission trip to Ecuador and collaborating many years with the Rochester Youth Association (YA). She has left a spritual legacy in our community and across generational lines! She has fought the fight and won the race. My prayers for strength and comfort to my friend Stacey, all her children, son in law, grandchildren and the PMDCC family.
