Obituary of Barbara Jane Gauldin
After an extended hospice in her Nineteenth Ward home, Barbara went to see the Lord on June 18, 2018 at the age of 86. She is survived by her husband Robert Gauldin and her four children and their spouses, Elizabeth and Eddie Fingers, Phillip and Jeanie Gauldin, Jeanne and Mike Rollo, and Lynn and Walter Burrows, as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Born in the little town of Frederick, Oklahoma, Barbara displayed a precocious talent for playing the piano. During high school she not only won numerous awards in statewide contests with her classical repertoire but also performed gospel hymns at the local Baptist church. After graduating from North Texas University, she married Robert Gauldin and taught piano at William Carey College in Mississippi before moving to Rochester in 1963. She served as the pianist at the Open Door Baptist Church for a number of years while attaining a master’s degree from the Eastman School of Music. During her subsequent tenure teaching at Boces I, she produced various plays, pageants, and ballets (Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty) with her students. Following her retirement, she accompanied the hymn singing in the adult Sunday school class at Victory Church.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11.00 AM Saturday, June 30 2018 in the Fellowship Hall at Victory Church, Wildbriar Road off East Henrietta Road, with pastor Joe Burress presiding. No flowers, please. To leave an online condolence, please visit: www.miller1889.com
