Obituary of Randy J. Osburn
Randy John Osburn
Randy John Osburn loved life and he lived it to the fullest. He left this world way too soon on Saturday, June 23, but in his 29 short years he touched a lot of lives and accomplished much.
Born on August 16, 1982 in Rochester, NY, Randy was the last of John and Marcy Osburn's three children and the couple's only son. As the baby of the bunch, "Ran-Dog" received plenty of attention from older sisters Holly and Cory, especially when the family would spend time vacationing together at New York's Sodus Point.
As the family's only "Boy Child," Randy spent a lot of time doing guy things with his father including trips to model train shows throughout New York and digging up, packaging and selling night crawlers to people headed to the lake to fish. During those formative years, he also learned a lot about life from his dad, especially when he was "volun-told" to help with chores around the house and property. Randy really loved cutting, splitting, loading and stacking firewood for the house (wink wink)!
Randy attended Victor High School and graduated as part of the Class of 2000. While in school, he enjoyed hitting the links as a member of the varsity golf team. Although he wasn't the world's best student, Randy worked hard to earn his degree because he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his aunt, sister and brother-in-law by attending Purdue University in pursuit of a career as a pharmacist.
Following some studies at Rochester, NY's Monroe Community College in the pre-pharmacy program and summer work at Miller's Pharmacy in Farmington, NY, Randy was accepted to the Purdue College of Pharmacy in 2002. While in West Lafayette, IN, Randy enjoyed college life by attending Boilermaker football and basketball games; joining the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity on campus and meeting many new friends including Kylie Mueller, a fellow pharmacy student from Freeburg, IL.
Randy graduated from Purdue in 2008 with a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree and he immediately began pursuing a career in his field, including spending time in Charlotte, NC. Following Charlotte, Randy and Kylie, who was now his girlfriend, moved around the country together for a few years, continuing their educations and seeking employment in places like Milwaukee, WI and Toledo, OH before settling down in Greenville, SC in 2011. During that time, Randy worked for Walgreens as a pharmacy manager for 7 years before recently bringing his talents to Value Medical, Inc., a mail order pharmacy based in Piedmont, SC.
While in Toledo, the couple took the first steps towards becoming a family when they added a new four-legged friend, Bella the dog, to their lives. The idea of family became a more of a reality when Randy proposed to Kylie at New York's Watkins Glen State Park during a romantic Finger Lakes daytrip on September 17, 2011. Kylie said yes and the couple began planning their October 5, 2012 wedding.
Although he is gone, Randy will live on through his many good deeds; through the lives he touched in positive ways; through the strong friendships he enjoyed and especially through the stories told and laughs shared around Osburn family campfires for many years to come.
Randy John Osburn is loved and remembered by his fiancée Kylie Mueller of Greenville, SC; parents John and Marcy Osburn of Farmington, NY; sister Holly Miller, her husband Brian, nephew Zachary and nieces Hannah and Sarah all of Twinsburg, OH; sister Cory Yost, her husband Greg, nieces Madison and Tenley all of Hagerstown, MD; grandmother, Carol "TuTu" Pickworth of Greece, NY and countless other friends and family members across the country.
Friends may call Thursday 4-8 at Lucey-VanVoorhis Funeral Home, 301 West Main Street, Victor. A celebration of Randy's life will begin following the calling. Gifts in his memory may be directed to American Red Cross,PO Box 91, 2751 Bull Street, Columbia, SC 29202 or charity of choice.
