I am filled with tremendous sadness upon learning of Cyndi's passing. It was such a great pleasure to work closely with and to get to know Cyndi last year. Her intelligence, talent, and dedication were much appreciated by the team at work and myself. I will most miss her cheery attitude, humor, and infectious smile. My sincerest condolences to Mike and all of Cyndi's family..

Cyndi was a student in my first class when I just moved to Rochester. The curiosity in her eyes immediately made her a standout. She kept me on my toes by asking excellent questions throughout the semester. She genuinely had fun while learning.
Some of the students in the class started to hate her (I think it was envy) because she would ace all the assignments, quizzes and exams ruining the curve for the entire class. :-)
Cyndi worked on a very difficult project for her final project in collaboration with the Eastman School of Music. She did a WONDERFUL job. You can watch this video made by the University of Rochester press on her work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUiIur3q9r4
After the project, Cyndi wanted to publish her final report for the class to a research conference. She didn't have a lot of experience at it. But she wasn't discouraged. She kept on trying with one rejection after another without losing spirit and hope.
After going through 3 rejections from 3 top tier conferences and while going through chemotherapy, she eventually got her class project to be published to in a top tier Computer Science conference. She then traveled to Osaka, Japan to give a very engaging talk in September of 2015 while battling the final stage of cancer.
Even until the last few days of her life, she was a very active member of our research group and significantly contributed as a research consultant. She was always very cheerful despite knowing the inevitable outcome.
She will remain very memorable in my heart as the most resilient student that I have ever had the opportunity to work with. I will miss her.

Cyndi was one of the best; honest, happy, smart, accomplished, friendly, proud and loving mother. A pleasure to know and work with on so many levels. Cyndi is one of those rare people that do good work, are easy to get along with, and deliver work on time. My life, and those of the people around her, are better because we knew her. Dearly missed.

My most sincere condolences, I had the opportunity to work with Cyndi last year and she was so enthusiastic about her work and the project we were working on together. It was one of her last projects before retiring from Xerox and she told me that she was having a great time working with our team in Toronto. We missed her when she retired, she provided great creativity and thoughtfulness to our project. This is a very sad day, she will be missed.

I have fond memories of working with Cyndi in 2015. Our project involved a couple of meetings in Toronto, Cyndi took her car the second time, and we had some lovely conversation along the way. Always clear headed, optimistic and forthright, she told me often that she needed to show things working; she was always dissatisfied with just talking in the abstract. She was happy to be retiring from Xerox. I knew she was fighting illness, but I had no idea she would leave so quickly or suddenly. May her soul rest in peace.

Mike, I was so saddened to see Cyndi's obituary in the paper. I will always remember her cheerfulness and stopping by to sneak a piece of candy or dessert. :) You took wonderful care of her. She was a true fighter and know that her spirit will always be there for you. I'm hoping these thoughts may comfort you:
Today we say goodbye to a loved one.
Someone who filled our lives with joy and meaning, laughter and tears.
Someone who touched our souls and moved our hearts,
We thank him for the time she shared with us on earth and now sadly send her spirit to the heavens.
When you look at the stars, remember her -- she will be the brightest star in the evening sky.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
