Obituary of Joseph R. Commisso

Commisso, Joseph Richard 8/15/1921 - 3/4/2012 Joseph Commisso of Manchester passed away, at the age of 90, on March 4, 2012, at Clifton Springs Hospital and Nursing Home. Joe is survived by his brother, Dominic Commisso of Tampa, FL; daughter, Cindy (Michael) Landosky of St Petersburg, FL; son, Bernard (Charlene) Commisso of Manchester; grandchildren, Joseph (Lori) Commisso, Bernard Commisso, Gina (Daniel) Clement and Lisa (Jeremy) Whipple; great-grandchildren, Alex, Kara, Riley, Jacob and Briellea Commisso and Joseph and Addison Whipple; sisters-in-law, Sue DelGatto and Joan Commisso;and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Nellie DelGatto Commisso; parents, Rocco and Ida; brothers, Frank and Nicholas; and sister, Mary. Joe was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved gardening, woodworking, cooking, railroads and the New York Yankees. He retired from the Lehigh Valley Railroad and was a WWII veteran, having served four years with the US Navy aboard the USS Kula Gulf. Joe was a member of Post 34 American Legion, St Dominic's Church, Knights of Columbus, Lehigh Valley Historical Society, a past firefighter and member of the Order of the Moose. For several years, he wintered with his wife in St Petersburg, FL. The family invites friends to attend a funeral mass at St Dominic's Church, Main St, Shortsville on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 am with burial immediately following at St Rose Cementary.
