Obituary of Thurlby Amos Colyer

Colyer, Thurlby Amos "Curt" Victor: Friday, March 8, 2013, at age 94. Curt was predeceased by his wife, Adeline in 1994; granddaughter, Claire in 2007, parents, Bertha and John; siblings, Anabelle, Earl, Russell, Jessie, Mabel, Ruth May, Mary Louise, Clair. Curt is survived by his children, Jerry (Munda) Colyer, Carol Colyer, Lawrence (Mary) Colyer, Thomas (Lynn) Colyer; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Grace Hershberger, Charles "Whitey" (Dorothy) Colyer, Lil Miller, Maxine (Flip) Mellott, William (Valena) Colyer and many nieces and nephews. Curt was born in Shade Gap, PA in 1918 and was one of 18 children. At the start of WWII he enlisted in the Army and served in the Pacific. After the war he returned to marry Adeline Schoenmaker and eventually settled in Victor, NY. He started Colyer Construction Company and Colyer's Bowl. He was an enthusiastic gardener and loved to give away vegetables. He also loved to tell a good story. Friends may call Monday afternoon 4-7 at Lucey-VanVoorhis Funeral Home, 301 West Main Street, Victor. A celebration of Curt's life will begin Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at the funeral home.
