Obituary of Laverna D. Gimmelli

Gimmelli, Laverna (Doane) Victor/Niagara Fall, NY: Laverna (Doane) Gimmelli, 87, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2013 at The Episcopal Church Home in Rochester, NY. She was born on October 31, 1926 in Texas to Rosco and Albina (Gingras) Doane. Laverna grew up in Niagara Falls where she met and married John E. Gimmelli in 1950. They were happily married for 42 years when he passed away in 1992. After raising 4 children, Laverna joined the workforce as a librarian until she retired from Niagara University's Library. Laverna moved to Rochester, NY to be closer to her grandchildren where she spent many happy hours teaching them to crochet and sharing her love of Disney musicals while they made forts out of her couch cushions. Laverna moved to Victor, NY where she made new friends at The Legacy in Victor. Her sense of humor and homemade cookies will be missed. Laverna is survived by her son, Larry Gimmelli of Rochester, NY; her daughters Janice (Mark) Gullo of Wilmington, DE, Sue (Bryan) Sertl of Rochester, NY and Linda (Bob) Hilliard of Victor, NY; her grandchildren, Andy and Thom Gullo, Ben and Erika Sertl, Tegan and Shealynn Hilliard. Laverna was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Doane and his wife Gloria, who was her best friend. At Laverna's request her services will be private. She has asked that you celebrate her memory by enjoying your family and friends. Laverna always said "Have a party!"
