Obituary of William Joseph Marshall
On September 23, 2018 at age 70.
Bill is survived by many family members and friends that will continue to love and miss him dearly.
He was born and raised in Watertown, NY. He shared his childhood with his brothers (Mike, George and Jack) and sister (Edna). In 1968, he married his sweetheart Linda and was drafted into the US Army. He and Linda moved to Germany where Bill was stationed for the next two years. While in Germany they had their first son (William). After Bill was honorably discharged, they moved back to Watertown, NY. They lived here for the next eleven years, having two more sons (Daniel and Jason), while working at Chesebrough-Ponds. They then moved their family to Rochester, NY where Bill worked as an engineer at Eastman Kodak. There he and Linda continued to raise their family, and eventually welcomed a number of grandchildren.
In 2005, shortly after accepting an early retirement from Kodak, Bill and Linda separated and he moved to West Almond, NY. Two years later he met his current girlfriend, Pam and they lived together in West Almond for eleven years until his passing.
Bill had a lifelong passion for the outdoors and loved to spend every spare moment he could hunting and fishing. This passion is what Bill is best known for, as he spent his life trying to share this, creating memories with as many friends and family as he could. Bill has numerous hunting and fishing trophies throughout his years, but if asked about his biggest trophy he would point to his family and friends in which he got to share this passion with. Getting the trophy only lasts a moment, but the story of that shared moment can be passed on for generations (making the trophy a little bigger with each passing of course- wink, wink).
Family and friends are invited to gather Saturday September, 29th to honor, remember and celebrate William's life from 3 - 3:30 in the chapel of the funeral home. At 3:30 a Memorial Service will be celebrated with Military Honors rendered at the conclusion.
In lieu of flowers, we know Bill would be happiest if you used this money to take a loved one fishing or just go enjoy the great outdoors together. His family would love for you to do this in his honor and share your story and pictures of your adventure here or on his Facebook page. In addition, please share any other fond memories you have of Bill and his family. The smiles they may bring would greatly be appreciated.
