Obituary of George W. Luckey

Age 93, September 24, 2018. Beloved husband of Doris; father of G. Robert (Valerie), Jana Thompkins (Kenneth), and John; grandfather of Nicholas Thompkins and Alyssa, Evan, Xander, and Jennifer Luckey.

He was born April 17, 1925, in Dayton, Ohio, and grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He served in the Navy in WWII, then attended Oberlin College (1947) and the University of Rochester (1950), where he earned a PhD in Chemistry. In 1958 he married the former Doris Waring and they made Rochester their home. He spent his entire career at Eastman Kodak as a chemist and physicist, retiring in 1986 as Senior Research Associate and Senior Lab Head. Member of numerous scientific societies, he also loved gardening, classical music, and reading great works of literature. He spent the last years of his life with Doris in St. John's Home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 29, at 1:30 PM at the chapel at St. John's Home (150 Highland Ave.). Interment private.
