Obituary of Barbara D. Bittner

Barbara "Barb" Dick Bittner, June 26, 1934 - September 23, 2018. 

Predeceased by her parents, William Dick and May Schaad Dick of Rochester and her sister, Joan Dick Curtice.  She is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, Walter R. Bittner; her children, Susan (Timothy) Mee of Rush; Nancy Flood of Henrietta and Thomas Bittner of Victor.  She is also survived by the lights of her life, six grandchildren: Daniel (Julia) Flood; Rachel Mee (Jonathan) Carmody; Eric Flood; Amanda Mee, Kacie Bittner, Colby Bittner and great grandson, Jackson D. Flood. Barbara is also survived by her brothers, William Dick and Ronald (June) Dick and several nieces and nephews.  Family was everything to Barbara and she loved them beyond all measure.  She will be deeply missed by both her family and her friends.

Barbara began her working career at Eastman Kodak Company and later worked part-time at Leary Elementary School in Rush and then at J.C. Penny’s for several years.  Barbara also served as the secretary/treasurer of the Rush Pine Hill Cemetery for 37 years. She was a lifelong devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph’s Church in Rush for 50 years. 

Barbara’s life will be celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am on Thursday, September 27th at St. Joseph's Church, 1209 Rush West Rush Road, Rush, NY 14543. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Rush.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rochester and Finger Lakes Region Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.
