I am Eileen Stellwagen's sister-in-law and visited with her and Van many times around 4pm at Valley Manor. I made known my liking for Manhattans. Every time i visited Van would bring me a Manhattan in his jar and tell me how a perfect Manhattan should be made. he was as described in his obituary and more. It was a privilege to know him, Eileen as well. They took their infirmities with such grace Eileen used to say, "I can't talk andVan can't walk." Both are missed.
