Obituary of Robert P. Sanderson
10/19/18
In loving memory of Robert Paul Sanderson, who recently passed at age 62. Born March 15, 1956 in Rochester, NY, and predeceased by parents Lucille (Paul) and Kenneth. Survived by wife, Nancy; daughter, Alena; son, Rob; newly-born granddaughter, Evelyn; brother, Kenneth; sisters, Judy Salter, Marjorie VanAtta, Carol Ferran; and many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Bob had a passion for horticulture and was extremely proud of the beautiful grounds he cared for at Nazareth College for more than thirty years. He worked closely with Nazareth’s athletic department and was instrumental in the development of the school’s state-of-the-art sports field and complex. He also served on the New York State Turfgrass Association’s board of directors.
Bob enjoyed the outdoors; he loved the Finger Lakes, visiting parks and a round of golf. He always enjoyed going for a drive, especially with family on road trips. Bob’s favorite sport was hockey, playing the game for 24 years before coaching Rob’s youth teams. He was especially proud of his son’s hockey play-by-play career and almost never missed a broadcast.
