Obituary of James Austin Reitz
James A. Reitz of Henrietta, NY and St. Cloud, FL, passed away Nov. 7, 2018 at the age of 95.
Jim went into the Army in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1945. After meeting at church, he married Betty Mason and they had 6 children. He had his own appliance repair business for many years, eventually working for Rochester Gas & Electric from where he retired. Jim's love of music lead him to learning to play the banjo and eventually started singing as well. He thorough enjoyed playing music with different band members, both in Rochester and Florida, along with his partner of more than 20 years, Edith Lindsay. He was a lifelong member of the Mason organization. Jim loved his family and enjoyed being with them immensely.
Predeceased by his parents Fayette and Thomas Reitz, first wife Betty, wife Stella, sister Marjorie, and grandson Alan Jr. He is survived by his partner of 20 years Edith Lindsay, sons Alan (Beverly) Reitz and Kenneth (Julia) Reitz, daughters Linda (Jerry) Johnston, Barbara (Thomas) Rohack, Nancy (Kevin) Conner and Susan (Thomas) Vierthaler, brother Martin Reitz, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed by all.
Family and friends are invited to call between the hours of 10am and 12:30pm on FRIDAY, November 30, 2018 at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. (3325 Winton Rd S. Rochester NY). James' band will play music in the Interfaith Chapel at Miller Funeral between the hours of 11 and 12:30pm followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30. The Graveside Service will be held following at Pine Hill Cemetery in Rush, NY.
