I know our Nazareth College “sisters” join me in expressing my sorrow for your loss, Annabelle. Lung cancer is horrible, and hopefully the knowledge that Don is resting in peace, no longer in pain, not struggling for his next breath, is some comfort to you and your family. Cherish the many wonderful memories that you made with him, and may they bring you some peace. Sending love and prayers every day. I met Don McCann about 48 years ago while visiting a friend, Annabelle Harris Healey, in Wellsville, NY. Annabelle was crazy about him and I could see why. The Don I knew was down-to-earth, easy going, and had a wonderful DRY sense of humor. He was a good man.

There aren't any words to tell of the emptiness your passing leaves in our lives, Don. You were a wonderful friend and one of the really good guys. We will miss you so much. We have only our pictures and our memories now and we will share them and many stories over and over again. If you ever wondered if you made a difference in anyone's life, you needn't have. We were all there this morning to be part of the tribute shown by family and friends and the residents and staff of the VA as you passed through the hall for the last time. And the thoughts and love of so many others who couldn't be with us physically were there with us in spirit to salute you.
And so, in honor of your Navy service, Don, we bid you "fair weather and following seas" and we'll see you again when we all get there!!
