I’m sending my sincere condolences to the Hoock family and friends. This is one of life’s greatest challenges that we have to face. The Bible offers much comfort for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. John 5:28-29 shows us how there will be a resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in death. Revelation 21:4 speaks of a time when death will be no more. If you would like to learn more details about this, please visit Jw.org for the answer to many of life’s questions.

To the family,
I express my deepest condolences for the loss of your love one. In the Bible, God expresses death as a "sting." (1 Corinthians 15:55,56) So this means that behind death, there is a painful hurt. He also knows what it is like to experience losing a love one as "he did not spare his own son but handed him over for us all." (Romans 8:32) But soon God will do something amazing. "All those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." (John 5:28,29) God will use his Son to bring back all our dead loved ones to life! What a joy that will be! There, God "will wipe out every tear from (our) eyes and death will be no more neither mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore."(Revelation 21:4) So yes, although experiencing the temporary sting of death, we will have the prospect of joy living on a paradise earth free of death forever! A wonderful website with more information on this subject is www.jw.org. This is where more Bible truths await us all. Please visit the website in hopes to add more comfort to your hearts. (2 Corinthians 1:3)
Again, sorry for your loss.

Although I didn't know Jack, I did know his sweet grandson, Trevor. I am truly sorry for your loss. May the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort give you strength and peace in the days ahead. I have personally found comfort in the words at Acts 24:15 where it tells us, "There is going to be a resurrection", and that soon God will "wipe out every tear" from our eyes. (Rev. 21:4)
You have my deepest sympathy while we patiently wait for that day to come.

I recall Mr.Hoock taking us to ballgames to see the Red Wings. During game 6 of the Wings championship season final series of '71 (with one win away to clinch) radio announcer Joe Cullinane announced mid-game that he noticed a few seats were empty. Me and Kevin were listening at the Hoock house. We didn't go (Wings would win game 7) but I could sense Mr. Hoock was weakening.
