She will be remembered for her love of family and anything sweet!

She was the daughter of Martin and Helen Pfuntner, born in Dansville, NY on June 27, 1925 and was the oldest of ten children. Doris grew up during the Great Depression. After World War II, her father was stationed in occupied Japan with the family and Doris and two of her siblings did not join them as they were over 18 years of age. She married Norman Miles, a World War II veteran in 1947, and they were married for 56 years raising their six daughters.

She was the beloved granddaughter of Mary Kelley Pfuntner, whose grandparents emigrated from Nenagh, Ireland in County Tipperary. She had the opportunity for extensive travel and adventures. Doris and Norm took their daughters on trips throughout the United States and Canada. As a couple, they traveled several times to destinations in Europe which she enjoyed immensely.

Doris was a homemaker who raised her family in Brockport, New York.  She loved her flower gardens and was an excellent seamstress, baker and cook. In addition, she embroidered, knitted and crocheted creating beautiful items for family and friends. She was a gentle soul and instilled a love of reading in all her children. With her husband, Norm, she took care of large vegetable gardens (freezing and canning vegetables for use in the long winters) and the family nursery business. She was a member of Lakeside Memorial Hospital TWIG group and a Brownie Troop leader for many years. She also had a career as a secretary at Brockport, NY High School in the Guidance office and was a highly regarded colleague.  Her French poodle, Pierre, and cat, Rosebud, were her faithful companions.
