Obituary of James G. Vercruysse
James G. Vercruysse, of Henrietta, passed away on April 24, 2019 at age 78.
Survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joyce; daughters: Doreen (Paul) Keptner, Debra, and Cynthia (Chad) Carlton; grandchildren: Steven, David and Alyssa Keptner, Caleb and Carter Carlton; sister-in-law, Mona Vercruysse, and niece, Maureen Vercruysse.
Predeceased by his parents, Anna Istvan and William Vercruysse and his brother, Robert.
Jim was born and raised in Queens, New York and met his high school sweetheart, Joyce, at age 16. They married at age 20. Jim was a sales engineer for Onan-Cummins emergency power generators for over 40 years in northern New Jersey and Syracuse, New York before his retirement in 2007. He loved spending time with his family, including his grandchildren. He was an active member of the Henrietta Senior Center. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards and Bocce Ball. Jim was an enthusiastic, life-long New York Jets fan. In his free time he also enjoyed gardening, reading, and watching science fiction movies. He previously volunteered and ushered at the local churches he belonged to prior to his retirement.
Friends and family may call between 2:00 and 4:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2019, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 pm, all held at Miller Funeral and Cremations Services, Inc. (3325 Winton Rd., So. Rochester, NY).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Henrietta Senior Center (checks made out to Henrietta Senior Boosters 515 Calkins Road, Rochester NY 14623) or a charity of choice.
