Obituary of William J. Ross
William James "Bill" Ross passed away on Saturday, September 21st, at the age of 63 from complications of PTLD.
He was predeceased by his parents, Helen (Mackay) & John Ross, mother-in-law, Martha Nickerson, brothers-in-law Russ Waring, Ed Pallazola, and Doc Fialho, uncles and an aunt. Left to remember him lovingly are his heartbroken wife of 35 years, Karen (Nickerson), an aunt, Shirley Larsen of Kamloops, BC, his Nickerson in laws who loved him like one of their own, numerous cousins and dear friends.
Bill was a proud graduate of Williamsville South HS, Class of ‘74, Rochester Institute of Technology BSEE ‘79; Northeastern University MSEE ‘87, Worcester Polytechnic Institute MBA ‘97. After traveling the world for business as a Purchasing Manager at Polaroid and Kodak, he retired from Kodak Alaris to enjoy many more world travels, especially January in Marco Island. He was a Past President and Board Member of the National Association of Purchasing Managers and Vice President of The Institute for Supply Management. He volunteered with Meals On Wheels and Blessed Sacrament’s Supper Program. He enthusiastically, if sometimes disappointedly, cheered on the Bills and the Red Sox.
Eternal gratitude to the kind and dedicated staff, especially the nurses, at the MICU at Strong Memorial Hospital, to all who prayed so fiercely for us, and to Debbie Murray whose selfless kidney donation gave him 10 more years of a wonderful life. “May the wind be always at your back and the sun shine warm upon your face.”
