Obituary of Nicholas T. Sardella

Nicholas T. Sardella

Born July 21, 1930

Died October 7, 2019 peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. Survived by his Wife, Virginia of 68 years. Daughter Donna (Mark) Lenhard and son David (Elana) Sardella. Grandchildren: Christopher Sardella, Hayley and Hayden Lenhard:Sisters: Genevieve Lando, Lucille Viola; numerous nieces and nephews. Special nieces Marcia and Ermine and his special blessing, "Joy".

Nick served in the Air Force from 1951-1955. He retired from HSBC where he was in charge of security. Nick was a member of the Knights of Columbus - 4th degree. He was a big sports fan and wore the Syracuse Orange with pride, staying loyal to the team of his home town. If a Syracuse game was on TV, you knew not to call him. Nick had a love of music and shared it with us with his beautiful song. He was a devoted member of the Good Shepherd Church choir for over 40 years. He continued to sing until his final days when Parkinsons claimed his voice. His mild manner and laid back personality had a calming affect. But you never knew when he would throw out a corny joke or wisecrack. He was a kind, compassionate man and would always be available if anyone needed a helping hand. He loved decorating his yard for Christmas and every year his light display seemed to grow bigger and brighter. He was a devoted family man. He loved spending time with his 3 grandchildren and could talk endlessly about them to anyone who would listen. He loved playing cards or games with his grandchildren and was an expert cheater. He was happy as a clam sitting at the head of the dinner table surrounded by his family talking and laughing for hours. The family would like to thank St. Ann's 5th Floor staff for their wonderful care of Nick.
