Obituary of Richard M. Beers, Sr.

Richard Minturn Beers, Sr. Died October 21, 2019. Born Washington, DC July 29, 1932. Graduated from the Landon School, Bethesda, MD and Brown University class of 1955 where he was a proud brother in the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity and a NROTC Scholar. He served as a US Naval Officer aboard the USS Pillsbury (DER 133) from 1956-59. He relocated to Rochester in 1963. Dick was a Realtor at Red Barn Properties for more than 47 years. He earlier worked in marketing and sales at Honeywell Inc., Fischer and Porter, Inc. Sybron Inc., and Stone Conveyor. 

He was a founding member and EMT at Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance in 1971, retiring in 2019. He was active in the Town of Pittsford Assessment and Architectural Review Boards for more than 30 years and volunteered at Advent House, WXXI Reachout Radio, Compeer and Hillside Children’s Center.

Survived by the love of his life, Patsy Beers and his four children; Karen Frutiger (John Stewart), Richard Beers, Jr. (Maggie), Mary Ellen Foley (John) and Ann Cott (Jerry), his fourteen grandchildren and one great grandson. Also survived by his five step-children; Gardner Kavanagh (Lisa), Tracy Kozlowski (Rick), George Kavanagh (Tara), Andrew Kavanagh (Yuka) and Kristina Blaylock, eight step-grandchildren and one step great grandson. Also survived by his sister, Lynn Beers and her two daughters Sue and Deidre. Dick was predeceased by his by his step-daughter, Wendy Kavanagh.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Pittsford (36 S Main St, Pittsford, NY 14534 VIEW MAP) on SATURDAY, November 9, 2019 at 11 AM.
