Obituary of William Robert Farress
On December 1, 2019. Survived by his wife Ann (Ross) & beloved pets.
Bill grew up in Charlotte & graduated from Charlotte High School in 1966. A Vietnam draftee, he completed the Army Airborne Course & proudly served with the 282nd AHC (Black Cats, Da Nang).
Bill was an adventurer with a quick wit and boundless energy. He had a passion for Motor and Sky Sports: Hot Rods, Sports and Race Cars, BSA Motorcycles and Skydiving. As a Skydiver he was a pioneer when the sport was in its infancy, he retired in 1981 with over 570 jumps logged. In 1984, he utilized his Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from MCC & skills as a Millwright to found Industrial Services of Rochester, Inc. (sales & service of Material Handling, Warehouse & Loading Dock Equipment). He met the demands of small business ownership with his love of a challenge and modest sense of humor. He was happiest working in his shop; whether restoring his vintage 1974 GMC Motor-home (12,000 lb. hot rod with plumbing) or designing/fabricating equipment for his customers. He retired in 2014.
Bill was quick to always help those in need and he treated all of God’s creatures with respect and reverence. He always took the time to slow down and listen, to look and to see. Memories of his generous heart and zest for life are cherished by his wife.
Friends are invited to celebrate Bill's life at St. Joseph's Church (43 Gebhardt Rd Penfield, NY 14526) on WEDNESDAY (12/11/19) at 10:30 AM. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to honor and help Bill’s fellow Veterans: The Gary Sinise Foundation, (www.garysinisefoundation.org) P.O. Box 368, Woodland Hills, CA 91365 in his memory.
