Obituary of P.K. John
P.K. died peacefully surrounded by his family on December 5, 2019.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 65 years, Mercy; children: Bijoy (Elizabeth), Reji (Juna), Susan (Dan) Charcholla, and John (Darlene Schultz); grandchildren: Alexander (Alana), Rebecca, Randall, Ashley, Maya, Deni (Charlie), Taylor and Joshua; sisters: Thankamma Kurian, Molly (Mon) Mathew; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
P.K. lived a remarkable 93 years. He emigrated from India in 1963. He was a brilliant physicist and optical engineer. He loved reading, gardening, telling jokes, quoting Shakespeare, and challenging his kids and grandchildren to strive for academic excellence.
He leaves a legacy of deep devotion to his family, lifelong learning, courage and perseverance, and inspiring those around him with his kindness, gentleness and smile.
The family is grateful to the many aides who helped him to remain in his home and the Hospice team from UR Medicine and Highland Hospital. Many thanks to our friends and family who have supported him through the years.
Friends and family are invited to call between the hours of 6 & 8PM on FRIDAY, Dec. 13th with a short prayer service at 7:30pm all held in the Interfaith Chapel of Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. (3325 Winton Rd S). Funeral service will be held at 2pm on SATURDAY, Dec 14th at the All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park (210 Marsh Rd). Donations may be made in P.K.’s name to the charity of your choice.
