Obituary of William A. Riepe

William A. Riepe passed on January 9, 2020 at the age of 86. 

William was predeceased by his parents, William and Elizabeth; Maureen Riepe, wife and mother of five children; second wife, Eleanor Craig-Riepe; brother, Edward.

He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his loving companion, Dottie Hawkins; children: Billy, Michael (Terry), John (Danielle), Diane Hitchens (Dan Prettyman) and JoAnn (Artie) DaSilva; grandchildren: Mark (Taylor) and June, Maureen and Allison, Anthony and Miles Hitchens and Isabella and AnaLia DaSilva; step-children, Doug and Scott Craig; siblings: Donald, John (Patricia), David (Rosemary), Jeanne (John) Morelli, and Linda (Harry) McCartney; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

William was born in Queens, NY. When their father passed at a young age, William stepped up to help raise his younger brothers and sisters. He and his brother, John, took over the family business, Riepe’s Prime Meat Market. He ran that business for over 40 years until moving to Rush in 1994. 

He took pride in his time serving in the Air Force during the Korean War. In Queens, he was the Post Commander for the A. Gordon Webster, American Legion Post 951 in Ozone Park, NY. In Rush, he stayed active in the community and became a Town Councilman. 

William was a loving man who adored his close family. He enjoyed nothing more than time with his loved ones and time spent involved with the St Joseph's Church of Rush. 

Friends and family are invited to call between the hours of 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM on THURSDAY, January 16th at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. (3325 Winton Rd. S.). Funeral Mass to be held at 10:00 AM on FRIDAY, January 17th at St Joseph's Church of Rush (1209 Rush West Rush Rd) followed by interment at Pine Hill Cemetery.
