Obituary of Jean Foulkes Borden
Jean Foulkes Borden
Rochester: Jean passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 11, 2020, at the age of 94. Despite a declining memory, she clearly loved her family until the very end. Predeceased by her husband of 61 years, James P. Borden, son David, and brother Thomas Foulkes. She is survived by her daughters, Ginny Borden, Kate (Dan) McBride; grandchildren Ian (Megan) McBride, Molly (Ryan) Hickey and Erin McBride; great-grandchildren Anna and Luke Hickey, and Daniel McBride; sister Nancy Gleason, many nieces and nephews.
Jean was a bright, kind, humble person who always served others. Tirelessly supportive of her children, and always present to her grandchildren, she loved spending time with them and delighted in their many accomplishments and hearing stories of their world travels. Jean was a life-long active member of the First Baptist Church of Rochester, worked for the Primary Mental Health Project in the Rush-Henrietta School District and was a long-time member of the Calico Twig, raising money for Rochester General Hospital. Jean had a keen mind, was an avid reader, creative writer and artist. She loved music, gardening, traveling, and dedicated her life to caring for her family.
We were honored to have her with us so long. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
No prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 22nd at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Rochester, 175 Allen’s Creek Rd. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute may consider a donation to the School of the Holy Childhood or the First Baptist Church of Rochester.
The family would like to thank the kind people at the Landing of Brighton and St. John’s Nursing Home for the loving care Jean received.
