Obituary of Patricia J. Shamblen

Passed away on February 25, 2020 at the age of 73. She is predeceased by her mother, Wilma Hall, her father, Harold Hall, and her brother Gary Hall. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Gary Shamblen, her two sons Paul and Daniel, their spouses, Jeannine and Crystal, grandchildren Brianna, Nicholas and Carly.

She was a devout Catholic and ensured the family went to church on a consistent basis and supported her husband in his baptism and confirmation into the faith. She was proud of how much her parents loved Gary immediately after they met. She loved him so much and worried about him all the time. She always bragged about how handsome he is. They married in 1967 not long after meeting. She was ”Patty” to him. They modeled a dedicated, selfless, loving marriage serving as an example to the children about what it means to be dedicated parents, always putting their kids first. She worked hard with Gary to put the children through Catholic school, support them with college, and their first cars.

She took great pride in family vacations, especially to cottages on Conesus Lake. As a conservative family, she insisted this was a priority creating amazing memories always going the week of July 4 to see the ring of fire. Patricia introduced her grandchildren and children to everyone, having long conversations with strangers to tell all about them.

She spoiled her grandkids treating them with special dinners, excursions, and always ensuring they received a special gift in the mail for every holiday. She enjoyed watching them open gifts so much. She was generous in all her actions. She loved her daughters-in-law as daughters and was so proud of the women her boys had married. She befriended them and coveted talking to and spending time with them.

She had a green thumb and loved flowers. She was an excellent water skier with her brother Gary. She enjoyed painting creating beautiful portraits for display. She was the apple of her father’s eye and adored by her mother. She took wonderful care of her parents and made them exceptionally proud. She loved coffee and chocolate. She was an excellent cook and made homemade birthday cakes for her children in the shape of animals based on their wishes.

She loved talking to family at dinner while enjoying a warm cup of coffee. Family dinners were at the table and the children had to finish their plate or stay seated. She loved to sit, talk, and enjoy her company. She had many friends and was fiercely loyal to them. She loved fiercely. She adored her pets--Taffy, Thumper, Tori, Toto and now Teddy. She wanted Teddy to bond with Gary and she made that happen.

Patty was sentimental and proud of her family. She saved precious photos, videos, and messages including those from her answering machine. She was a selfless, loving, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by many, but we take comfort knowing she is in the Lord’s arms.
