Fannie Hull

Obituary of Fannie Hull

Fannie May Hull (Lakeville)

Passed away on March 25, 2020, at the age of 94. Fannie was born in Canadaigua on May 27th, 1925 to Mildred and Clarence Wright. Fannie loved to sing, and was known at a young age to sing hymns on local Rochester radio stations, and even recently enjoyed sharing letters that she had received from listeners. Fannie attended a one-room school house while she was growing up in Pittsford, NY with her sister Lois, her brother Harold, and her next door neighbor and future sister-in-law, Ruth DeWolf.

When Fannie was 17 she married Frederick Jay Hull, Sr. while he was on a three day furlough from his service in WWII. Fannie and Frederick were married for 44 years before he passed away in 1986. Fannie held several jobs in the Rochester area, including working in Strong Memorial Hospital, the Rush-Henrietta School Cafeteria, and in Dollinger’s factory until she retired in 1986 to take care of her first grandchild. She was especially devoted to her family and her church, and was always ready to provide a word of support, a hug, or a Scripture verse to those around her. Fannie’s favorite Bible passage was Psalm 91, which she clung to in times of distress. Fannie was always delighted to spend time with family, and was quick to let her great grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as “GiGi,” climb up into her lap, and was also known to sneak extra Oreos and treats to them when their parents weren’t looking.

Fannie was predeceased by her parents, Mildred Irene (Allen) Wright and Clarence Harvey Wright, her brothers Harvey Wright and Harold
Wright, her dear husband Frederick Jay Hull, Sr., and her beloved sister Lois Audrey Wright. Fannie is survived by her dear sons Frederick Jay Hull, Jr., Richard Allen (Holly) Hull; her beloved granddaughters Rachel (Tim) Mason, Rebekah (Stephen) Diegelman, and her precious great granddaughters Bethany May, Lael, and Talitha Mason, and Tallie (Rebekah); Fannie is also survived by her sister in law, Ruth (Harold) Wright and her nephew James (Sharon) Wright, her niece Beverly (Mark) McClements, and her great-nieces and nephews Megan (Stephen) Coble, Abigail (Joe) Jaeger, Sarah (Drew) Hodgson, Nathaniel Wright, Jeremy Wright, Christina (Ryan) Dannahey, and several great-great nieces and nephews.

Fannie was a very devout believer in Christ, with a strong faith. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be made to Fannie’s favorite Rochester area missions: The Open Door Mission (click HERE to donate online) or Grace and Truth Christian Fellowship’s Hygiene Bank (click HERE for donation instructions).

Interment will be held privately. Fannie May’s Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
