Obituary of Dr. Sidney L. McQuay

Dr. Sidney McQuay passed away, peacefully, on March 25, 2020, with his family, by his side, he was 75 years of age.

He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Eleanor (Ort, McQuay) Guise.

 

Sidney, is survived by his loving wife, of 56 years, Kandy (Connell) McQuay, daughter, Laurie (Scott) McQuay Ingalls; brother, Dr. Paul McQuay; grandchildren, Ryan Ingalls and Chelsea Ingalls; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Dr. McQuay, chose to enlist in the U.S. Navy, upon high school graduation, serving a three-year term. He then attended Williamsport Area Community College. Dr. McQuay, attended Oswego State University, where he received, his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree, in Vocational Technical Education. His Doctorate Degree was earned from The University of Connecticut, in 1977.

 

In 1970, he moved to Rochester, New York, to accept the Department Chair position, in the college of Continuing Education, at The Rochester Institute of Technology. Over his 43 -year - tenure at RIT, Dr. McQuay, was also a Professor, at The National Technical Institute for the Deaf.

 

May of 1980, Dr. McQuay was awarded the “Alumnus Of The Year Award,” by the Williamsport Area Community College. May of 2001, Dr. McQuay was presented, Rochester Institute of Technology, “Eisenhart Award, for Outstanding Teaching.”
