Obituary of Fred Ritz

Frederick Oscar Ritz passed away on April 17, 2020 at the age of 89. Predeceased by his siblings, Edward (Elsie), Robert (Phyllis), Mildred (Thomas) Cooney, Ernest (Elizabeth) and grandson Peter Hallinean. Nephews, Edward and Stephen Ritz. Survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Eleanor; children, Nora (Robert) Relyea, William (Michele Coe), Lynette (Martin) Hallinean, Margaret Wetzel and Patricia Ritz; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; in-laws, Deborah Ritz and Keith Wetzel.

 

Dad worked at RGE for 39 Years, retiring in 1994 as general foreman. He always treated his men with respect and Knowledge. He was a great guy, he helped me (Pat) and he was my best friend. Dad was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa and friend who was so proud of his family. A creative man, Dad was happiest building things, he built the family home. He was always planning his next project, and even now we can imagine him in a heavenly workshop keeping the pearly gates swinging and the angel wings flapping smoothly.

 

He was very inquisitive always asking questions, he had varied interest including, politics, cooking, gardening, health and nutrition. He did daily exercises, i.e., deep knee bends, leg raises, lifting small weights, deep breathing and walking, right to the end. Dad loved a good joke, never off color, but long “stories” with a punch line you should have seen coming.  He Enjoyed life and a good meal! He is missed.
