Obituary of Warner K. Meininger

 

On May 13, 2020, Warner K. Meininger, died peacefully, surrounded by his family. Warner was born January 7, 1934 in Buffalo, NY, son of Karl and Emily Meininger. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1962 and was stationed in Korea for 16 months. After his enlistment ended, he attended Syracuse University and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He spent the first part of his career working at General Electric in Syracuse before moving to Rochester to work at Kodak. While at Kodak, he completed his MBA at Rochester Institute of Technology. He is survived by his son David K. Meininger of Bolton, MA, and daughters Karen M. Breer of Freeport, MA and Jennifer S. Meininger of Gaithersburg, MD, daughter-in-law Isabel L. Wells and son-in-law Douglas W. Breer, and five granddaughters whom he loved dearly. He leaves his beloved wife of 64 years, Joanne M. Meininger. Warner was always active in the Presbyterian Church and most recently attended First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford. He loved the outdoors from hunting and fishing to camping and canoeing, which included numerous trips to the Adirondacks. Warner instilled a passion of outdoor adventures that continues to live on with his children and grandchildren. He also played a lot of golf and participated in many work leagues. He spent as much time as he could with his grandchildren, including several trips to Sanibel Island with them walking the beaches and enjoying the time together. As a Syracuse alumni Warner attended many SU sporting events and “bled” Orange! In lieu of flowers, donations in Warner’s memory can be made to First Presbyterian Church in Pittsford, NY.
