I have known Mike for almost forty years. You get to know a man pretty well over that many years. From that first meeting, late at night, in a water, mud and sewage filled hole, a solid friendship was made. From then on, side by side we would tackle jobs that were dangerous and sometimes seemingly impossible, but we would get them done. When I was moving buildings, when the stress levels were beyond high, there was one person I had to have beside me who could think on his feet and could make split decisions on his own to save the day, and that was Mike Doran. Vacationing with Mike, Patty, Shaun and Shannon was as much fun as I have ever had. Mike worked hard, played hard and always kept a happy face no matter what. A rare man indeed and an irreplaceable friend I will miss always.

Everything I know about plumbing and electric or any kind of repair I learned from working with Mike at Weiders. Easily my favorite, there was a way to fix everything whether it be "the right way" or not and watching him come up with his solutions was more education than I ever hoped to gain. Creative, mildly destructive, a little chaotic, but all love, even in the most unsettling or stressful moments he took it with laughter, pretzels, and Mountain Dew. There's not another one like him, I guarantee. We still have a few tools in the red chest at the service desk marked "Doran" on the handle, among all the other things Mike left his mark on, whether it be the store itself, coworkers, or the customer he insists follow him home to loot his barn looking for a screw he says he has. He was missed at the store as soon as he left, and every visit as a customer was filled with more of him assisting others than shopping for himself, but none of us were surprised in the least. Mike is a truly unforgettable man, I hope his family knows just how loved he is by the people he's worked with and the people he's helped.
