Rudy at first glance seemed rough around the edges. But, as you got to know him, he had a kind heart, which he kept guarded. He bought land from my conservative father on Pinnacle Rd in Rush, years ago. My dad saw bikers helping Rudy building a ranch house on the land adjacent to ours and got nervous. He went to visit Rudy, walked home tipsy and found he had made a new friend for life. Rudy and my dad collaborated on a few projects after that until he moved on to his hardware store. Nobody can forget Rudy's willingness to share his advice from the " school of hard knocks".
