Robert Black, Jr.

Obituary of Robert Black, Jr.

Our beloved Robert Black, Jr. “Bubba” made his transition Monday June 29, 2020 at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, FL.  For those of us who knew him, it was indeed a privilege and honor to have known Bubba as he lived his life with courage and full of zest and enthusiasm.  Like "The Black Family,” he had a passion for hunting and fishing and loved to have large family cookouts, where he supplied the fish.  Many of his classmates at Crooms Academy, which is where he graduated from high school, still boast that he was "the best baseball player that Sanford has ever seen."  As a child, his family would joke that he was curious and always tinkering with things, sometimes fixing them but more often, not.  An avid lover of animals, he was always bringing strays home of all species.

Robert was born in Sanford on July 18, 1938 to Mr. Robert Black Sr. and Nora Dean Black who preceded him in death.  He is survived by his wife Ann. He and his former wife (Dora Miller Black, deceased) had three (3) sons Robert Darryl Black III (Shari), Charlotte, NC, Kevin Craig Black (deceased), and Dwayne Eric Black (Jennifer), Rochester, NY. He was also the grandfather of six (6) grandchildren: Latoya, Crystal, Kelvin, Darryl, Eric, and Nicholas and three (3) great grandchildren: James, Jah’mes and Rylee.  He had four siblings: Edith "Cleaster" deceased, Betty Jean, Sanford, Fl, Donald (Fannie) Rochester, NY and Janice, Kissimmee, FL. He had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  We will miss him dearly, but we value and cherish his time with us here on earth!

In lieu of an in person funeral service during the current pandemic we are experiencing, the family plans to hold a memorial service in the spring of 2021.
