Deepest condolences to your family. Rita was quite a remarkable woman and a wonderful example to others. My mother, MaryElizabeth Neff O’Connor and Rita attended Seton Hill together. My mother graduated in 1948 and Rita in 1950. When I married Gerard Zeller and moved to the valley Rita was especially gracious and friendly to me. I am very grateful that I got to know her.
Sincerely,
Gerard and Mary Anne Zeller

Our deepest sympathy on the loss of Rita. Our St. Patrick's group from Owego used to meet with Joe & Rita and the Valley Group many years ago. They were a lovely couple.

The few moments I personally got to share with Rita were sweet as ever, each time as she smiled warmly and delighted in the babies around her. Losing much of her new memory faculties never obstructed her from being kind to me, a stranger to her every time. Because I have only had the opportunity to start to know her enormous family over the past five years through my now-husband, Jon, I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Rita’s fuller, more vibrant personality directly in her more youthful times. But I nonetheless feel a profound appreciation for the beautiful, fulfilling life she seems to have led. From my particular vantage, it appears clear that the abundance of her pure, joyful, life-giving love that let her raise her six (!) children flows uninterrupted— down through her wonderful daughter, Patricia, another exceptional mother to my husband, Jon; and on into the tender way that I get to witness him nurture our own son, one of her many great-grandchildren, Jack. The longevity of her maternal love is a staggering legacy to behold. I couldn’t be more grateful to have gotten my own slice of it when I began my family from hers. Everyone in her “Wolf pack” has always been so welcoming to me as part of their family, even before I officially was one. My deepest condolences to every one of them in this time of loss.
