Obituary of Carol Shea

Carol McDonald Shea

Carol Shea died unexpectedly on August 6, 2020 at the age of 73.

She is survived by her spouse and partner of 40+ years Tim Shea, daughters Glennan (Greg) Saraceno and Django Scahill, grandchildren Priscilla, Nate, Darren, Quentin, Ayana, and Khalia, great-grandchildren Kaya, Xiomari, and Zahid, sister Rachel McDonald and her daughter NaaNue, nephew Matt Darby, an abundance of many more nieces and nephews along with the Stubenrod, Darby, McDonald, Shea and Scahill families, her lifelong friend Roger Sutphen and a host of loving friends and neighbors. Carol is predeceased by her beloved mother Ruth McDonald, her brothers Leon and William Darby, and her precious daughter Shannon Zingo.

Carol was a gift from the moment she arrived on Christmas Eve 1946. She graduated from Madison High School in 1964. Her ability to entertain, relate to and care for children extended beyond her own as she was known to be a magnet and charm to “all things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful.” Carol’s wellspring of creativity is marked by her gifts of inimitable intellect, boundless wit, and artistic flair. She was a long time improvisor performing in several comedy troupes and venues, most recently as a member of the Focus Theater.

Friends and family are invited to offer their condolences Sunday, August 16 at Yatteau’s (125) from 2-5 pm. In Carol’s memory, you are invited to make a donation to a rescue shelter or take in a stray to call your own.
