Obituary of Ming-jy Tseng

Ming-Jy Chiou Tseng of Pittsford, NY, died Thursday, August 20, 2020, at the age of 82. She died in her sleep peacefully at her home.

She was born in Pingtung, Taiwan, in 1938 to Jin-Tien and Tung-May Chiou. She graduated from Pingtung Women’s High School and Taiwan School of Nursing. She taught at Taipei Midwifery School for four years. She came to the United States in 1964 for the Special Nursing Training at Strong Memorial Hospital. In 1965, Ming married her husband of 55 years, Fung-I Tseng, in Syracuse. She and her family moved to Pittsford in 1969, where she had resided for the past 31 years. She worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years and especially loved working as a visiting nurse for Visiting Nurse Services and Life-time Care in Rochester. She studied in her spare time and earned her Master’s degree in Public Health. In addition to raising three daughters, she volunteered with the American Red Cross and was a member of the Women’s Club of Pittsford. She loved traveling: All over the United States, England, North and South Europe, China and Taiwan. 

Ming is survived by her loving husband Fung, her daughter Florence and husband Peter Chung, her daughter Helen Tseng, and her daughter Vania and husband Christoper Radtke. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Ryan and Nicholas Chung, Dakota Tseng, and Ruby and Rocco Radtke.

Her wonderful spirit, joy and care for people will be celebrated at a memorial service at Christ Clarion Church in Pittsford. Due to the current pandemic, it will be private.
