Linda and family; the pain of Andy's loss is still strong. I can only imagine how your lives will change with him absent from your lives.
Andy was a quiet force of nature who impacted everyone he met.
His was such a calm and thoughtful spirit; a bit unusual for his German heritage. He was often the voice of reason when my Irish-Ukranian temper and impatience got the best of me.
He taught me to respect everyone, not to jump to judgement and to control my impatience.
I wish we had sung something joyful together.
I feel blessed to have known the both of you.

Please accept my deepest sympathies and know that he had a profound impact on his students' educations and lives. He was my first contact at RIT and it was his genuine and caring nature that convinced me to join the program. We had many conversations back then and he always spoke fondly and proudly of his family. Try to let the good memories get you through this very difficult time.

He was my first professor at 8am when I started RIT Fall- Spring 08-09. I can't say I would have enjoyed General and Analytical Chemistry I-III if Dr. Langner wasn't my instructor. He was jus so laid back and patient when it came to the material and my dilemma's. By the time I figures something out, most of the time it would be so simple and I would feel so embarressed but he always had the right quote, or joke, to say to make me feel better. Always available during office hours, he would even encourage study groups so he can still lend his availability, return emails faster then you could hit the send button, and at least share a quick second if he was seriously in the middle of something. Outside of being a professor for my first year here, he developed into one of my first mentor's. My family was moving around a lot so I was pretty much at RIT 24/7. He was the first person I could trust talking to when it came to anything and he was the best when it came to helping me come to the right conclusion. Dr. Langner cannot be replaced, he won't, and I am honored to have had him as a professor, mentor, and friend.

Andy served on a number of RIT committees over the years - it was my pleasure to benefit from his expertise, patience, and commitment to excellence. RIT is a better place for his time here - and a sadder place because he is no longer with us. Condolences to his family and his many colleagues and friends. He blessed us all.

Linda and family: on behalf of my family, we would like to give you our sincerest regrets for your loss. Dr. Langner had been a great mentor and teacher throughout my undergraduate studies at RIT. He was always so supportive, honest and graceful to me. He had never turned me away when I needed help. He never got angry or frustrated when I made mistakes. He saw that I had passion and potential in science before I knew it myself. It was my honor to have him as a mentor. His advice will always be in my heart. My family is forever grateful for his positive influence on my professional career and personal growth. I promise you that I'll spread his passion in teaching to my students whenever I can. My deepest condolences to you and you will always be in my prayers.

He showed me you can accomplish great things despite adversity, and do so with dignity, warmth, humor, and remarkable brilliance. Dear Linda,
I am very sorry to hear this news and wish to convey the deepest of my sympathy to you.
Dr. Langner was a great person, teacher and guide. I personally thought very highly of him and always had great respect for him and will continue to feel the same way.
His humility and persona was a source of inspiration and he was role model for me. While at RIT (many thousands of miles away from my family in India), I found the comfort of family in talking to him and getting guidance from him on both professional as well as personal fronts.
This is a big personal loss for me and I wish to convey my regards and condolences to you and close friends of the family.
I wish for strength for your family and I hope that you will be able to move on keeping the fondest of his memories alive and with them all the time.
