Obituary of Charles W. Davis

Charles W. Davis, Sr., (Leather by Charlie) 4/11/1925-3/9/2011 a week after celebrating his 58th wedding anniversary with his surviving loving wife Carolyn. Pre-deceased by daughters-in-law, Yong Suk and Steffanie, brother Joe and sister Ida. Survived by brother John (Lorraine), sister Elsie, sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Marie, brother-in-law, Ken (Carol). Also survived by his 5 sons, Charles Jr. of the Philippines, Bruce, Paul, Ed (Kim) all of Rochester and Carl of Virginia. Grandchildren, Carolyn, Matt, Wendy, Michael, Callie, Sharon, Joe, Ben, Brandon, Kyle, Ashtin, Melissa, Samantha, step-grandchildren, Jessica, Josh, and Heather, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Charles was born in Essex, MD and was a WWII veteran seeing action in Northern Africa and Anzio, Italy. He then went to work in the Coast Guard shipyards, then onto Pfaudler who transferred him to Rochester in 1956. Charles retired from Pfaudler in 1986. Charles and Carolyn moved to Henrietta in 1962. He was active with the Boy Scouts while raising his boys and was a past Commissioner with the Otetiana Council. Charles had his hobby with leather crafts. He showed a lot of young men the art and joy of working with leather. After his retirement Charles turned to his leather work and made items to be sold at craft sales (hence the name Leather by Charlie). He was also very proud to be a member of Ely-Fagan American Legion Post 1151 in Henrietta.

Viewing for Charlie will be 4-7 WEDNESDAY 3/16/2011 at HENRY D. HALLORAN SON, INC. FH 5781 West Henrietta Rd. where his service will be held THURSDAY at 10 AM. Interment Maplewood Cemetery. A reception will follow at Ely-Fagan.
