Obituary of Louis Mazzacane

On June 8, 2011 at age 82. He is predeceased by his wife, RoseMary (Cammarata) Mazzacane; parents, Nicola "Gian" & Letizia (Bavazzano) Mazzacane. Survived by his son, John (Maria) Mazzacane; grandsons, Anthony & Cammarata "Cam" Mazzacane; niece, Marlene Unger; brother in law, Joseph Cammarata; grand nieces, Erika Unger & Jessica Rosen and their families; many cousins and other relatives in Italy also Maria's mother, Carolyn Duperron and brother, Daniel (Christy) Duperron. Born in the Bronx, NY, he moved, at a young age, to Northern Italy where his parents had a farm. During his early teenage years he fought, as a resistance fighter, in the underground against Hitler's Army and Mussolini's Black Shirt's (Army), in Northern Italy. He spoke five languages, including English, Italian and regional dialects. After the war he moved back to the Bay Ridge Area in Brooklyn, NY. He was a lifelong Brooklyn Dodger fan and celebrated their World Series win. He graduated from the Brooklyn Technical Institute for Tool & Die and went on to work on the first commercial jet prototype at Republic Tool & Die. He later worked as a chef at Junior's Restaurant and Angelo's Restaurant on Mulberry St. in NYC. He subsequently moved to Rochester to raise a family, where he worked as a chef for the Dickens Restaurant and the Country Club of Rochester. He was a recreational sailor, when living in NYC, and a lifelong avid fisherman. A loving father and grandfather who will be missed by all who loved him. Family and friends are invited to call at Miller Funeral Homes, Inc. (3325 Winton Road South) on FRIDAY from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 PM. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John of Rochester (8 Wickford Way - Fairport) on SATURDAY at 9:30 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the Catholic Family Center (87 N. Clinton Ave, Roch. NY 14604) in his memory.
