I was saddened to learn about Bob's passing last week. He was a great friend and colleague during my time at Soliton. I will always remember his smile, energy and "can do" spirit, and all of his gadgets. My condolences to the entire family.

Bob and I reconnected after 48 years from our graduation from Ithaca High School. He was instrumental in helping to create the website set up for our class of 1961. My association with Bob has been a real pleasure over the last two years. I will miss him. He conducted his battle with ALS with grace and bravery. Please accept my condolences. We all have lost a real friend and gentleman.

Bob was a friend of my family. His mother Jenette Mercer Campbell was a great friend of my dad's from Baldwinsville, New York..they had gone to school together and my parents are buried in the Riverview Cementry also. When they moved to Ithaca we all visited the family and I have many early memories. Thinking of you and the family at this sad time.. All were great people. Joanne Westfall Bonanni

I was so saddened to learn of Bob's passing. I was hoping to see him at our recent 50th IHS Class Reunion. In my mind, he will always be the handsome guy I remember from our long-ago "school days". He was so very kind and had the greatest smile whenever you saw him. My heartfelt sympathies to his family. May God comfort you during the days ahead in knowing that Bob is at peace now. God Bless.

Bob and I started corresponding a few months ago, shortly after our 50th high school reunion, which I couldn't make either. It was a unexpected joy to receive emails from this passionate and resilient man who was still collecting reading lists, appreciating a rendition of Marvin Gaye's "I heard it through the grapevine," and defending Adele against accusations of being too popular. I am very sad that Bob left so soon, but what a marvelous legacy he leaves in Trish, JJ, & Marc who he was so incredibly proud of.

I am saddened to hear of your father's death. My memories of him in high school were of a kind, caring and friendly person who treated all with respect. We all missed him at the reunion, but his work on the planning committee gave us an opportunity to renew friendships. For those of us who knew him in his youth, we can tell you that he was someone you would have been very proud to call a friend.

Bob, I never knew you very well, but I considered you a friend.
Now I feel an ache inside me as it all comes to an end.
I hope one day we'll meet again, when my days on earth are done.
When we can walk again among our friends and share in Heaven's
fun.
I learned of Bob's illness at the 50th class reunion so sent him a few emails just to let him know that I was thinking of him. RIP my friend.

The members of the Ithaca High School Class of 1961 were so close that when I saw Bob a year ago at the planning meeting it was as though 49 years slipped away. He had hardly changed, and although he couldn't speak, he was an integral part of the planning process. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to speak with him at that time and am saddened he is no longer with us. Take comfort in your memories and know he lives on in his children and grandchildren.

I am so saddened to hear of Bob's passing. He was a wonderful young man when we knew each other in High School, and became an even more wonderful man. I am sure God welcomed Bob with open arms and will bring peace and comfort to his family. May the happiest of memories soon replace the sadness of this time.

Tricia - I tried to reach you yesterday but of course the email address I have for you is outdated. Your Dad was such a special person and such a good friend and I am so sad that I managed to lose touch with him over the last few years. I will never forget how many times he made me laugh or how much he taught me (or how much he loved you and Jessica and Marc). Although I have not seen him lately, I miss him already. Please send me an email sometime in the next weeks/months/whatever if you can find time. Love to you and to your Dad, wherever he may be working his magic and wreaking his havoc right now. Terry.

Bob was the President of the Ithaca High Class of 1961. He came to Ithaca in July 2010 for the 50th reunion planning meeting. Although he was no longer able to speak, he had his laptop computer and could type out his thoughts which were then delivered through the speakers. Both he and we thought he would be at the reunion this past July. When he found that he couldn't make it, we tried to include him by having a reunion tee shirt at every event of the weekend for classmates to sign. We felt his presence, and I think that when he received the tee shirt and looked at the pictures, he knew how much we missed him. Now his pain and suffering are over. May all the family and friends find solace in good memories of his life.

Bob and I shared the same last name in high school so I was always seated next to him in homeroom. I loved him as a friend and am so happy that we were able to have a delightful visit in July at the conclusion of our 50th high school reunion. His eyes sparkled when I entered his room (we hadn't see each other since college days), we visited for an hour during which time I totally forgot that he wasn't speaking, his face and gestures were so expressive. He made a lasting impression on me which I'll never forget. I'm very saddened by this news though would not wish him to continue on in such misery.
