Obituary of Simon J. Schouten

On October 17, 2011, at age 84. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Cornelia; children, Simone Schouten (Ford Kinney), Cathaline Schouten, John (Brenda) Schouten, Magdalena (Philip) MacDonald, all of Rochester & Hilaireen (Russell) Hall of Syracuse; grandchildren, Emily (Aaron) Donlon, Amanda, John Jr., Sarah, Leanne, Traesa, Omar, Molly, Alana, Brenton & Jillian; sister, Eveline (John) Kaptein of Webster; brothers & sisters in the Netherlands; sister-in-law, Tina (Fred) VanRoon; many friends & family. Originally from the Netherlands, Simon immigrated to the U.S. in 1951. Through persistence and hard work he built a successful home improvement business, Simon Schouten & Son. A devoted husband, always supportive of family and welcoming of friends, his sunny disposition will be missed dearly. Family and friends are invited to call on THURSDAY, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Miller Funeral Homes (3325 Winton Rd. S.) Simon's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on FRIDAY at 10 AM at St. Anne Church (1600 Mt. Hope Ave. CLICK FOR MAP) Interment, Pine Hill Cemetery.
