Sorry for your loss. While I didn't know Mr. Mick personaly, I see that he never lost his faith in God. We to want to trust in the God of all comfort.-2 Corinthians 1:3. How does he comfort us at times like this? He gives us hope. Acts 24:15, speaks of the resurrection. Resurrection is a standing up again, a coming to life. the hope of seeing Mr. Mick again. It is what the Lord Jesus did for Lazarus(John 11:43-44) and promise to do for others.-John 5:28-29. May these words and your good memories bring you a measure of comfort.

We were so sad to hear of Micky's passing. We were the Mack's duck farmer family friends in Water Mill. My sister Pat was Micky's Godmother. I was between Terry and Gary in school. We have so many fond memories of playing ball together, swimming in the ocean, riding "go carts", and sledding. We ran into Mick a few times here in Rochester at basketball games. He had that wonderful Mack smile. I remember him rubbing his hands together in excitement as he father often did. Both of our families lost 2 siblings way too young. Seeing Micky's picture brings both a smile and tear. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, his children and his siblings. (johnnbellini@gmail.com)

Caroline, Chelsea, Mikayla,
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to swap several emails with Mick in the final 2 weeks, and had a chance to say my goodbyes to him. However, I didn't really get a chance at the wake to really share my thoughts with you, with so many people around and such limited time. Some people like to say that sports develops character. Maybe for kids, but as an adult, sports reveals character. Playing basketball with Mick several times a week over a 15 year period gave me lots of insights into Mick. First, (and I say this with love of all the guys in the group), Mick was about the only honest one among us. Whenever there was a disagreement over a call or the score, Mick would very quietly provide the right call...and after a while, we all realized we could trust him to tell the truth, not just look for an edge..and that ended the disagreement right there. He was generous--always willing to pass the ball, set a pick, do whatever it took to help his team win, not just do the glory stuff, ie, shoot and score. He was balanced--while he played hard to win, he knew there were more important things in his life. He was creative--always looking for ways to improve the game, creating tournaments for us to play, and of course, his infamous Player Rankings Poll, which has caused more arguments, laughter and abuse than anything we have ever done.
Finally, I just have to say how amazed and impressed I was by how poised and welcoming you all were Monday night. As much as we wanted to comfort you, you made all of us feel better.
I'm sorry if this is too long, I just wanted to make sure you knew how much I enjoyed having Mick as part of my life, how I truly feel a loss, and hopefully you take some comfort in realizing what a great guy he was to other people.

We are very sorry to learn that Mick has passed away. We did not know him well, but he always exchanged a happy hello with us on our mutual way into or out of the many school events involving his daughter and our son. We hope you find peace in your happy memories of Mick.
