Larsen Engineers Larsen Engineers posted a condolence

Author Elisabeth Kubler-Ross said, "It's only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth--and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up--that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it were the only one we had." This quote was Vern, always living each day to the fullest. Whether it was a workday at Larsen doing survey work, sharing in the leadership of business, mentoring co-workers, negotiating with Clients, sharing a life experience, a day on the golf course, a Company celebration, a day with his family, an outing with his beloved dogs or a visit in his retirement to the office - each day was lived to its fullest. Vern loved to laugh and shared many humorous moments with his co-workers; like the time he donned a Santa Claus suit and showed up to the Larsen holiday party! Santa had great difficulties keeping his padding in place and all had a good chuckle. Vern loved food that showed up on random days at the Larsen office building and being a mannerly gentlemen would always say, "oh, my, what do we have here" and then say, "I shouldn't, but I will anyway." Vern startled an employee at work one day when he showed up with his beloved Newfoundland; she thought it was a bear! Or the times he would bring his children into the office or wife, Connie to share a few moments of his day - Vern seemed to love each day and the office held a special place in his heart. Vern, the Larsen Team will miss you, but your spirit will live on in our hearts.

I'm sorry I won't be able to come to Vern's funeral or calling hours. It was wonderful to reconnect with Connie, to meet their children and one dog, and to hear about what a wonderful guy Vern was. Life will be hard without him, for sure, but what great memories you all have.

Connie, Richard and Chris. I'm very sorry for your loss. I have fond and funny memories of Vern, from the way he answered the phone to the way he prepared a shopping list for a meal that he looked forward to making for family and friends. Rest In Peace, Mr. C.
