Obituary of Robert Olaf Naess

Passed away May 11, 2012 at the age of 85. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Irene; children, David of Rochester, Joan (Steven) Nyitrai of Hendersonville, NC, Kathryn "Cook" (Jeffrey) Leonards of Wilton, ME; grandchildren, Steven (Ellen) Nyitrai, Stacey (Stephen) Troisi, Christopher (Samantha) Leonards and great-grandchildren, Sydney & Davis Nyitrai, Collin Troisi and Anouk Leonards. Bob, a graduate of Marquette University served in the US Navy aboard the USS Sennet submarine during WWII he also served during the Korean Conflict. He was proud to serve in the Navy as a Submarine man. Bob spent his professional career as an engineer for Sperry and Grumman on LI, Kohlmorgan and Itek in the Boston area, Bausch and Lomb in Rochester then taught at NTID. Upon Bob's retirement he authored a text book "Optics for Technology Students" and built churches with Laborers for Christ. Bob will be remembered at the many Lutheran churches that he faithfully attended over the years. Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday (5/16) from 8:30 to 10:00 AM at the Episcopal Church Home (505 Mt. Hope Ave.CLICK for a Map) a Memorial Service will follow at 10:30 in their Chapel with a luncheon to follow. Bob's final resting place will be in his childhood hometown of Ludlow, VT. In lieu of flowers it is requested you pick some wild flowers to enjoy and remember Bob. Visitation

Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday (5/16) from 8:30 to 10:00 AM at the Episcopal Church Home (505 Mt. Hope Ave.).

Service Info

Memorial Service will follow at 10:30 in their Chapel with a luncheon to follow.

Interment

Bob's final resting place will be in his childhood hometown of Ludlow, VT.
