I got to know Harry when he was the Public Relations Chairman for the Northern Central New York Volunteer Firemen's Association. Harry was always a ray of sunshine no matter what the weather was like. Most of the members of Northern Central Volunteer Firemen's Association did know of Harry's passing until this past Saturday when his name was mentioned in our memorial service. On behalf of the Northern Central members and officers, I would like to express our sincerest sympathy.
Sincerely,
Pamela Fingar

As I read the obituary for Mr. Howitt , I was truly impressed by the outstanding and full life he lived. Never-the-less, even 94 years of life is still much too short. How thankful we are that our grand Creator, Jehovah plans to restore his original purpose and make it possible for all mankind (including our loved ones we have lost in death) to live forever under perfect conditions. (Matthew 6:10; Job 14:14 & 15). Please accept our condolences as you deal with the loss of Mr. Howitt and contemplate the hope of seeing him once again.

I met Harry shortly after his son Harry Paul (HP as he always like to call him) and I graduated from High School. We talked about photography because he knew I was very interested in it and he always kept me updated on where HP was stationed. Harry was a true gentleman and it was a pleasure knowing him both through the fire department as well as when we worked together at Ritter Dental. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family.

Harry was an "unsung & unassuming" guy. We lived 1/2 mile away from Harry on West Henrietta Road. When my brothers and I were old enough (1956) we played in the RHA baseball and my dad used to go to Harry's house to pick up the equipment from his garage. He did not receive the credit the Bill Farrell got for the successs of RHA,but Harry was every bit as responsible for RHAA being what it is today!!! My brother ,Stephen, was a friend of Harry's son,Dave,in school and used to go play basketball on the hoop that Harry put up (and is STILL there) 50 years ago!! Than ks,Harry, for all you did to make the Thomas happy playing baseball in the late 50s & early 60s!!!

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my good friend Harry.
He was one of the kindest, caring, and most giving people I have had the pleasure to know. I first met him after he retired and was driving a school bus to keep busy. One day after we lost a soccer game and harry told me he was being forced to retire I asked if he might like to help with the soccer team. I thought I was doing him a favor but soon found out he was doing me the favor. How the kids loved him being there every day. I can remember the first day of tryouts one year and harry wasn't present. We started practice and about a half hour into it the veteran players saw Harry up on the hill
, stopped what they were doing and ran up to greet him cheering his arrival. He taught the kids and me a lot of life skills. He wasn't called coach or certainly payed as a coach but he sure should have been. On every one of my visits after Harry was in the home we asked about and spoke fondly of all the boys. Harry is now with his beloved Helen. Tha
nks Harry for being who you are and sharing it with so many others
