Marquis, Robert Edward, PhD "Bob" Brighton: On January 23, 2014 at age 80. Predeceased by his Mother and Father, Margaret & Louis Marquis; Brother, James Marquis; Sister, Maryellen Marquis Schwartz. Survived by his Wife, Diana Mears Marquis; Children, Linda Marquis Weber, Heather Marquis & Andre’ Marquis; Grandchildren, Jessica & William Dean, Jr., Zacharia Boyd, Jake & Noah Weber, Catherine, Zeno & Hugo Marquis; Great-Grandchildren, Jared Rivers, Kyle & Justin Marks; Sister, Anne Austin; Brother, Lawrence Marquis. Bob graduated from St. Patrick H.S. in Sarnia, Ontario and Port Huron Junior College in MI. He then attended the University of Chicago; obtained his B.S. from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI; and earned his M.S and PhD from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. He spent 2 years as a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. In 1963 he joined the faculty at the University of Rochester to do research and teach microbial physiology, along with administrative duties. His work attracted students from all over the world, and won many awards. His research, family and friends meant everything to him.
