I lost the last of the three marvellous women who had really considered me as their own son and treated me like that. The first one was my own Mom who had given birth to me. The second one was my mother-in-law and the third and the last one was my American Mom. I met her and my American family in 1968. From the very first moment on I felt strongly that I had had another family away from my home in Turkey. She was the main figure that made me feel like that. She was always so warm, caring and nice to me and tried to make me feel at home all through that wonderful one year in Beers' home.
As for my family, we lost a very important figure, a lady,in our family. My daughter Gizem lost her "Nana" while my wife Tangül lost a good friend with whom she had founded a very good friendship in such a short time.
Her memories are unforgettable and will always be with us.

I had heard about Mrs. Beers from my husband,Vedat, several times but unfortunately I met her very late , in 2008 when we went to Rochester to meet Vedat’s American Family. From the first moment on that I met her we made very good friends. She was so nice and warm to me and she was so generous in sharing her life experiences with me. I always noticed that her approach to anyone around her was so warm and caring. I wish I had met her earlier and spent more time together. I will always remember her.

Mavis was a good friend to our Mom, Beverly Wing, at Edna Tina Wilson. We also enjoyed her company and I remember very fondly our "2013 New Year Eve party" at the home. We convinced her to stay and play some games with us and even have a tiny bit of Sangria. She was a sweet woman who will be greatly missed.
