Obituary of Laurance S. Buttler

January 5, 2015 at age 85. Predeceased by his siblings, Allan C. Buttler and Gail Buttler Englund. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan (Reed); daughters, Donna (Mark Ricketts) Buttler, Debra (Ken) Nelson; grandchildren, Courtney Harris, Tim and Scott Keegan, Erin, Kaitlin & Conor Buttler-Ricketts and Leah Nelson; in-laws Chris and Marilyn Gengras and Nancy Reed, several nieces and nephews. Larry was raised in PA where he excelled in sports and academics at Camp Hill High School. He served in the Army during Korea as a Sgt. First Class and received the Purple Heart. He was a graduate of Gettysburg College and a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. Larry joined the Aetna Life & Casualty in 1955, spending several years in supervisory positions in Boston, MA, Regional Director in Hartford, CT, and General Manager of Western, NY in his 39 year career. Larry is quoted as saying "the one thing I value most in my life is my family." He was always actively involved in the adventures of his family. He enjoyed skiing, sledding, gardening, and water sports and especially vacationing with his wife, children and grandchildren. Always a Yankees fan, he shared his love for baseball, coaching his grandsons' Little League Team. He has been a great influence on his family, friends and employees. Larry's Memorial Service will be held on SATURDAY January 10, 2015 at 11 AM at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd on the corner of Rt. 250 and State Rd., Webster, NY.
