Coach Lopa had such a profoundly positive impact on the lives of so many. His presence in this world will be sorely missed by those that he touched. It's been nearly 40 years since I last wrestled for Coach Lopa, but the respect and admiration that I had for him never faded with that passage of time. And when I say I wrestled for him, I mean that in a very literal sense. Sure, I wanted to win for myself, but I wanted to win for him at least as much, if not more. I think we all did. Quite simply, because we loved him. We still do. Rest in peace coach.
My heartfelt and deepest sympathy to Mrs. Lopa, Lori, Jill and the entire family. May all the wonderful memories fill your minds and warm your hearts.

Mr Lopa was among my favorite teachers. He was always happy & laughing. He was a great teacher and fun to be around. Perhaps more importantly, he was a great role model. My condolences to his family, I know the loss is large.

First and foremost God bless Michael, his family and many friends. I had the pleasure of knowing Michael best when he was a young man in high school. Make no mistake Mike was a man among boys when we were growing up. He was simply an outstanding athlete in every respect. Certainly he was one of the best ever to be produced in the Rochester area. Mike took no hostages. He was a punishing runner in football with legs like tree stumps. His prowess as a heavy weight wrestler was just as impressive. His success at Jefferson High School took him to Indiana University on a football scholarship where a severe knee injury ended his football career early. It was truly an honor and privilege to be Michael’s teammate and friend.

"Love is not a memory it's a feeling in the heart and soul, never to be forgotten. Alzheimer's can take away almost everything but not the love."
To Barb and family. Mike was many things to many people but the common thread is how much we all loved him. Mike, you will be missed but never forgotten.

Mr. Lopa was my gym teacher and wrestling coach at Greece Arcadia from 1965 to 1969. He produced a lot of great athletes like Paul Hoevenar, and many others. He was always fair and very supportive. He was a great athlete in his own right at Jefferson , and Indiana. Mr. Lopa was not one to be messed, that would be a big mistake. He was simply a great person. Most likely he is coaching a wrestling team in heaven. He will be missed, but he leaves a great legacy.
My sincere sympathy to Mrs. Lopa and their family.

Mr Lopa was a great and beloved teacher and coach at Arcadia. Many of us have so many fond memories. As I was not a talented athlete-- he watched over me during several gym incidents I had while in his classes and always made sure I got to the nurse and was looked after. Every year-- he made it known to me--- "Oh no another class with you" I always knew he was joking around--- Just fond memories--- My heart goes out to his family and friends
